New assignment for you who would like to develop Sahlgrenska Academy’s curricula

16 February, 2016

PROGRAM QUALITY. One teacher or two teachers, if the assignment is divided, will have the opportunity to play a vital role in the development of education at Sahlgrenska Academy. Together with an investigator, they will build an operative project group that will, among other things, suggest structures for future quality assurance. Register your interest, in the assignment, no later than March 2.

Swedish higher education faces one of the greatest changes to have occurred regarding quality evaluation. For the first time, higher education institutions will be responsible for conducting continuous quality assurance of their entire curricula, from acceptance to graduation.

“The quality of Sahlgrenska Academy’s curricula will be systematic assured, and cooperation between the different programs within pedagogy and examination is likely to increase,” says Silvana Naredi Assistant Dean responsible for program questions.

The Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) then reviews our quality assurance.

Those who are assigned to participate in the Operative Project Group will affect and develop the quality assurance of our curricula, an assignment that, in all likelihood, will result in a number of changes to our curricula.

“The assignment requires “self-motivation” as, essentially, each person will create their own agenda. The work comes with enormous freedom, but also tremendous responsibility,” says Silvana Naredi.

From the first of April, the deans will appoint a project group that will suggest the content, organization and systems for quality assurance of the curricula at the undergraduate and advanced levels at Sahlgrenska Academy. The work is done in collaboration with the University of Gothenburg’s Quality Committee (HP/VP 2016-2018).

The Project Group’s assignment is:

  • To execute the initial internal mapping of necessary information for followup and development so that the programs and courses reach the goals established by the ESG
  • Execute an external evaluation of a selected program
  • Provide suggestions for content, organization and systems as well as policy documents for future quality assurance of the curricula at the undergraduate and advanced levels at Sahlgrenska Academy
  • Continuously report to UR and the Academy Board
  • The Project Group will be attached to the Council for Education in first and second cycle programmes and be given the rights of attendance and freedom of speech.

Applications should be sent to karin.wikeby@sahlgrenska.gu.se no later than March 2, 2016. Applications should include a CV and a short personal letter with your motivating interest for one of the projects.

For more information on the assignment, contact the Chairman of the Education Council:
Assistant Dean Silvana Naredi: +46 (0)766-183758 or silvana.naredi@gu.se
