AWARDS. The prize “Best thesis at the Sahlgrenska Academy” is now open for nominations. A total of seven PhD’s who defended their dissertations last year will be awarded. All employees at the Sahlgrenska Academy can nominate – by 1 March.

The prize has been awarded annually since 2009 and is funded by Dr Arnt Vestbys National Research Foundation. The prize aims to highlight the theses of the highest quality in the medical science field and to recognize the efforts PhD students and supervisors do. The award for the best thesis at the Academy is SEK 80 000 SEK. Each institution best thesis awarded prize of SEK 30 000.

All employees may nominate, including all those who defended a thesis at the Sahlgrenska Academy during the year 2015. However, it is not possible to nominate yourself.

Each nomination must include a justification, about half an A4 page. The nomination must be submitted no later than Tuesday, March 1st, 2016 to basta.avhandling@sahlgrenska.gu.se. Received nominations will be considered by an evaluation committee appointed by the The council for third-cycle studies (FUR) and assessed based on the criteria of “outstanding” or “very good” thesis from the handbook “Assessing a scientific thesis.”

The prize will be awarded at a ceremony on May 17, 2016.

For questions, contact tanja.johansson@sahlgrenska.gu.se.
