DOCTERAL STUDENTS. If you will be holding your doctoral dissertation in 2016 or later, the cover of your thesis will look different. The Dean has decided on a new template that gives the cover a more modern appearance, and you, the doctoral student, greater opportunity to affect the design and color.
The changes are the result of the new visual identity developed by the University of Gothenburg. During 2015, the website, office stationery and Office templates were changed. At year’s end, it will be time to change out the eight-year-old template for doctoral thesis covers.
The new template offers greater opportunities to adapt the cover to the doctoral student’s preferences regarding colors and modification of a photograph or illustration. Another new feature is that there is room for a back-cover text with a short summary of the thesis.
“We wanted a modern design with an academic tone. It should be obvious that this not just any book, but rather, that this is a doctoral thesis that you are holding,” says Pontus Sundén, Communications Officer at Sahlgrenska Academy’s office.
The new look has been presented to the Academy’s management and at the Council for third-cycle studies.
“We have received many positive comments,” says Pontus. First, it is a modernization and second, I think it is fun to have greater opportunities to adapt the appearance.”
