Sweden is usually described as a gold mine for research in records, but to utilize this treasure can be cumbersome. It is difficult for researchers to get an overview and orientation of the flora of official records, and the process to get the data often takes a long time.
A national platform on the web, that will help scientists to conduct research in records, is soon to be launched. The site registerforskning.se will be a portal which both helps researchers to find appropriate records, and also will guide them through the legal process.
The Swedish Research Council is behind the site, which will start slowly during spring in 2016.
“Record Research is important and contributes with knowledge in many areas, not least about the background of various diseases”, says Björn Halleröd, Secretary General of the Council for Research Infrastructures at the Swedish Research Council. “Therefore, it is important to have appropriate structures to facilitate the researchers to use the material.”
