BUILDING PLANS. On October 30, a contest for the design of the planned buildings by Per Dubbsgatan started. According to plan, Building 1 should stand at Sahlgrenska University Hospital site, Building two should be built across Per Dubbsgatan and the planned location for Building 3 is on Medicinareberget. The contest will determine which architectural firms that will work with the project.
The buildnings that according to plan are to connect Sahlgrenska Academy and Sahlgrenska University Hospital are now named Building 123. Many architectoral firms expressed their interest, and five constellations have been selected. The competition is part of a consultancy contract according to the law on public procurement and the participants are therefore confidential. In late February, five anonymous entries will be presented in a public exhibition. The jury will go through the motions and appoint a winner in March.
A project to develop a new plan for the area is in progress, and the winning entry will be the basis for, and processed in, the further zoning plan process.
The goal of the project is to create a physical environment that enables and promotes cooperation between health care, research, education and business. In their entries the architect agencies are to articulate and propose building design with organization and structure. The external environment is also included in the competition program, with regard to the availability and attractive entry points.
For Building 3 (the building that is planned be built on Medicinarberget) the competition program is asking for a common entrance function, as well as good prospects for both planned and spontaneous meetings. Laboratory premises must be designed flexibly, so that individual research groups can quickly increase or decrease.
