CONFERENCE. This year Swedental and Dental Medicine Convention organize a seminar to highlight and honor the memory of Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark, who died in late 2014. During the seminar, Per-Ingvar Brånemark’s research and clinic regarding osseointegrated implants for both dentistry and medicine will be highlighted.
Osseointegration is a method to anchor the implant in the bone, especially in the jaw to support dental crowns and bridges, but the method has been developed for use in other parts of the skeleton where one can anchor the joint or bone prostheses.
Brånemark was made prosector of anatomy at the University of Gothenburg in 1963 and was appointed professor in 1979. In 1992, Brånemark received the Söderberg Prize, which abroad is known as the “Minor Nobel Prize”. He became Professor Emeritus 1994.
This year’s overall theme at Swedental is the whole person! The future is in the big picture. The theme aims to bring dental care and dental health in a context of public health and sickness, life, research and society.
Swedental and Dental Medicine Convention held November 12 to 14 at the Swedish Exhibition Centre.
