In Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists young scientists are competing with papers on their dissertations. The jury are editors from one of the largest and most prestigious scientific journals in the world – Science magazine. Four recipients will be chosen – one in each category. The winners will be rewarded with a total of 60,000 USD, where half of the prize money will be given to the person designated as the Grand Prize Winner. All the four winning essays will be published by Science and can be read by researchers and others worldwide.
The four award winners are also invited to Stockholm and Uppsala in December to participate in a busy event week. Among the highlights are the big awards ceremony and banquet in the Hall of Mirrors at the Grand Hôtel – the place where the first Nobel festivities took place. The winners also get to meet this year’s Nobel Laureates in Physiology or Medicine for a lunch mingle at Karolinska Institutet.
The Award Categories for 2015 are:
- Cell and Molecular Biology
- Ecology and Environment
- Genomics and Proteomics
- Translational Medicine
