What does it take to be published in the top-ranked scientific journals?

16 June, 2014

Welcome to a one-day intensive workshop in academic writing that provides an insider’s perspective on the editorial processes at top-ranked journals such as Nature, and the strategies to maximize the chances of being published there. To successfully reach and influence your target audiences requires careful planning of both the writing and publication processes so that your papers are not only read, but understood, and found meaningful and influential by the readers. These considerations are particularly important if you wish to be published in the world’s top journals.

Researchers that have followed the workshop reflect that ”this is such a great workshop that I truly recommend. We went through the full working process from experiment design to the diverse sections of a manuscript and on how to maximize your impact, all with a focus on journals such as Nature and Science” (Alexandre Antonelli, the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Gothenburg).

”The workshop was well-balanced and you will not regret to join. The knowledge learned is much valuable for other journals as well, and to the performance and presentation of research more generally” (Herbert Zirath, Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience, Chalmers University of Technology).

The workshop is led by Dr Dan Csontos. He is a science writer, editor and publishing consultant at Elevate Scientific, based in Lund, Sweden. Before founding Elevate he was a science editor with the international journals Nature, Nature Physics and Nature Communications, and a science editor and project manager with Macmillan Science Communications in London.
