Silvana Naredi began as a senior lecturer in anesthesiology and critical care at Sahlgrenska Academy in October, and has now been appointed the new associate dean for education. “I have never declined offers that mean I get to help develop and have an impact,” says Silvana Naredi, who becomes the new associate dean on February 1.
Silvana Naredi is a critical care physician and did both her undergraduate and her graduate studies in Gothenburg. In 2000, she completed her dissertation on a new treatment for severe head injuries. Since then she has worked at several hospitals, including two university hospitals. She comes to us from Umeå, where she worked with their regionalization of the medical program.
Good education is key
Naredi believes that a good undergraduate education is key. “As a physician, I know that there must be well trained staff in every part of the health care system. Without the right expertise, good medical care is not possible. Without good undergraduate training that stimulates and sparks the interest of students, good researchers cannot be developed,” she says, adding, “Overall, Sahlgrenska Academy has high quality academic programs, but everything can be improved. The goal must be to become the best education in the world.”
