Internationalization continues to be the single strongest trend in higher education and research. At the same time the trend that universities come together appears to have stalled. These are some of the findings of the interim report of the Devision of analysis and evaluation at the University recently presented.
The semi-annual report also shows that emerging strong economies outside the Western world continues to invest more money in particular higher education, but also research.
In the western world systems for quality assessment of higher education and research is currently changing in many countries, often by addition of indicators of collaboration, innovation and impact. Many countries outside the Western world are working raising the quality of the higher education sector.
