What can we learn from the current pandemic and previous crises, in order to build back better, and how can the research community collaborate and contribute with knowledge for a transformation towards a more resilient economic system and society? These are some of the questions that will be addressed in this roundtable discussion for researchers.
Registration closes on June 8, at 12 AM. Register here: https://ui.ungpd.com/Events/85fd8a8f-9d37-45b1-9539-2145db25aa83#sign-up-form-1
The socio-economic impacts of the corona epidemic are deepening worldwide and poses a severe threat to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At the same time, the pandemic has exposed the vulnerability of the global economy and weaknesses in global political coordination and national welfare systems. The lack of resilience to the crisis has led to a loss of lives, jobs and opportunities across the globe. The measures that will be taken to restart the global economy can offer a unique opportunity for a more radical transformation towards a sustainable future, that many climate scientists and others have called for.
The aim with this roundtable discussion is to facilitate exchange, primarily between researchers at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. Other researchers, however, are welcome to join as well. The conversation will start with a few introductory talks from researchers based in Gothenburg, that have already engaged in the public debate in different ways. Depending on the number of participants, part of the meeting will be carried out in one or several groups.
As a participant you are expected to contribute with your own knowledge and/or ideas regarding the questions addressed. The meeting will be held in Zoom.
