Akademiliv congratulates Kristian Samuelsson, newly appointed Professor of Orthopedics. In his clinical work as an orthopedist he works with knee joint surgery, and as a researcher he focuses on knee and sports-related injuries, and leads a group of some 30 doctors, physiotherapists, nurses and medical students. He is currently main supervisor for five PhD students with projects in cross-band surgery, shoulder instability, femoral fractures and hand surgery. He is a board member of the new International Orthopedic Register, which will study children and adolescents with cross-band injuries. He also works with clinical multicenter studies including the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, USA, and McMaster University, Canada. He is one of the initiators in a multidisciplinary innovation project between Chalmers, the industry and the public sector with the goal to develop health-promoting technology forward.
