Akademiliv congratulates Marcus Lind, newly appointed Professor of Diabetology at the Institute of Medicine: “To me research as a natural part of the care. When we cannot cure or provide adequate treatment to our patients, it remains to be sought through research”, Marcus says. His research group has, among other things, evaluated CGM treatment (continuous glucose measurement), which led to new guidelines, in Sweden and internationally. To understand the disease in in a longer perspective, the group also researches sequelae: “We try to answer why diabetes debuts, aiming both to be able to prevent the onset of the disease, and to slow down the disease by recreating insulin production in those already affected. We collaborate broadly with researchers from different clinical areas in order to be able to help children, adolescents and adults with different variants of diabetes disease”.
