Henrik Djerf, a doctoral student at the Department of Radiology, recently received the Swedish Vascular Award, a prize that is awarded annually by the Swedish Association for Vascular Surgery for the best scientific publication in vascular surgery during the past year. The article Henrik Djerf was praised for was the first to evaluate cost-effectiveness for invasive interventions for patients with intermittent claudication after two years of follow-up in a randomized study. Invasive procedures give higher quality of life, and the study shows that the cost is about four times higher than conservative treatment. Professor Ulf Hedin at KI was also praised.
