It has now been decided which seven dissertations are to be awarded as Doctoral Thesis’ of the year 2017, a prize that is financed by Dr. Arnt Vestbys Research Foundation. The Doctoral Thesis of the year of the entire faculty focused on osteoporosis and was written by Daniel Sundh, with Mattias Lorentzon as main supervisor. The thesis showed that people with fracture, low levels of vitamin D as well as high fat tissue had a higher degree of cortical porosity, and suggested that cortical porosity is important for bone strength and possibly bone fracture.
