Welcome to the Sahlgrenska Academy Science Seminars, a series of seminars on Thursdays at 15-16. The seminars are, during spring 2021, conducted through Zoom Webinars.
- Here is the link to the webinar: https://gu-se.zoom.us/j/68893312351
The seminars are open to anyone interested in taking part of scientific breakthroughs and projects in the medicine and health science field. Scientists, students and other staff from GU, VGR and other organisations with the common interest of medicine and health science, welcome!
Topic:
The primary goal of Kevin Freemans lab is to develop more accurate preclinical models of neuroblastoma to better understand the genesis of the disease and to help identify novel therapies. We have successfully established an innovative neuroblastoma research program based on the transformation of primary neural crest cells into neuroblastoma thereby providing a new approach for studying many of the difficult questions confounding the neuroblastoma field.
Kein Freemans group has made significant progress on two projects using our novel system: 1) Investigating whether sympathoadrenal lineage cell fate regulators are critical for neuroblastoma oncogenesis and responsible for neuroblastoma sensitivity to BET inhibitors. 2) Determining whether mutations in subunits of the chromatin-remodeling complex SWI/SNF, which is mutated in over 20% of cancers, contribute to neuroblastoma tumorigenesis by retention of a progenitor state that is conducive to oncogenesis.
